An industry of ideas committed to progress

Sondotécnica was born in 1954 with a clear objective: to transform knowledge into projects that drive Brazil forward. Founded by engineer Jaime Rotstein, it began in soil testing and soon became a pioneer in areas such as hydrology, oceanography, and sediment transport.

Over the decades, we expanded our horizons and delivered more than 3,000 projects across sectors including transportation, energy, water and wastewater, industry, and the environment. Today, we are a leading name in engineering consulting and the management of major infrastructure projects.

OUR FOUNDER

Jaime Rotstein

Jaime Rotstein believed that engineering was about building progress. The son of immigrants, he began working at the age of 11, earned his engineering degree in Rio de Janeiro, and founded Sondotécnica at the age of 25.

A visionary, he championed causes of national importance, founded engineering organizations, advocated for renewable energy, and served on strategic boards, including Petrobras. He remained professionally active until the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy of innovation, integrity, and passion for Brazil that continues to guide our journey today.
